Brief info

Pastor Brian C. Frelix was born in Los Angeles, California, to Bishop Harold J. Frelix Sr. and Iola Ann Frelix. In 1996, he was called to the ministry at Priest Lake Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He was licensed in December of 1999. After co-founding the "Men of Valor" ministry and serving faithfully in the prisons and rescue mission, Pastor Frelix was ordained in January 2001. He was the Assistant Pastor of Priest Lake Community Baptist Church of Nashville, Tennessee (2001-2022). Pastor Frelix now serves as the fourth Senior Pastor of the historic Foss Avenue Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan— "Where fellowship is real."

Pastor Frelix earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from American Baptist College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude; a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt University, earning honors for his master’s thesis; and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Missional Theology and Spiritual Formation from Lipscomb University where his project Thesis was titled: "Reimagining Black Church Liminal Space: An Introduction to the Pedagogy and Practice of Foundational Spiritual Formation in Flint Mi."

God has blessed the ministry of Pastor Frelix as he shares the gift of expository preaching and pastoral/biblical counseling. He is a powerful, uncompromising preacher, known for his sermonic exhortation and energetic gospel delivery. Pastor Frelix is a charismatic and dynamic leader known for his ability to usher in the spirit of God through his transparent style of praise and worship. His teaching focuses on making complex biblical truths easy to understand and applicable to daily living.

God has blessed Pastor Frelix to share his life with his wife, First Lady Dr. Tya Frelix. They are the proud parents of two adult children: Brian Cameron and Kimberly Faith. The Rev. Dr. and Dr. Tya recently welcomed their new addition, baby Violet Angel Frelix, and they are expecting Sophia Rose Frelix in April 2025.
