Brief info

Pastor Brian C. Frelix was born in Los Angeles, California, to Bishop Harold J. Frelix Sr. and Iola Ann Frelix. He was baptized at Mount Olivet in St. Paul Minnesota in 1976. The Frelix family moved to Tennessee in 1980 for his father to attend the historic American Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1996, Brian C. Frelix was called to the ministry at Priest Lake Baptist Church. He was licensed in December of 1999. After co-founding the "Men of Valor" ministry and serving faithfully in the prisons and rescue mission, Pastor Frelix was ordained in January 2001. He was the Assistant Pastor of Priest Lake Community Baptist Church of Nashville, Tennessee (2001-2022). Pastor Frelix now serves as the fourth Senior Pastor of the historic Foss Avenue Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan— "Where fellowship is real."

Pastor Frelix earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from American Baptist College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He earned a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt University: earning honors for his master’s thesis. Pastor Frelix has completed all of the coursework for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree at Lipscomb University, with his final project currently in progress. He has earned 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

God has blessed Pastor Frelix to share his life with his wife, First Lady Dr. Tya Frelix. They are the proud parents of two adult children: Brian Cameron and Kimberly Faith. Since their arrival in Michigan, Rev. and Dr. Tya Frelix welcomed two new additions to the family with Violet Angel Frelix (Dec. 2023) and Sophia Rose Frelix (April 2025). God is amazing.
